Soon after the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB) took over the running of the Susi student grant application system in 2012, it was clear that changes were needed to manage the system more effectively and more efficiently. It was replacing a system which was, at that point, dispersed among 66 local awarding authorities. As a result, there were various different systems in place processing close to 100,000 applications. So, an IT project was devised to bring a myriad of software portals together and create one centralised grant application processing system. Things have not gone to plan, however.…
