Hotelier Denis Connolly has admitted misleading his business partner Gerard Lane over the use of a €680,000 contribution the latter made towards acquiring a Spanish hotel. Under cross-examination in the High Court, the co-proprietor of the upmarket Wicklow wedding venue Tinakilly House, answered “yeah, okay” when it was put to him that the money had in fact been used to clear Connolly’s own debts, at a time when he was in financial difficulty, including a legal bill to the law firm Augustus Cullen.
