Vital as it may be, the quality assurance work of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) in areas like transport, medtech, and renewable energy, rarely causes ripples, or draws attention. With one major exception: The State standards body is a defendant in the multi-party negligence action arising from the defective concrete blocks scandal affecting thousands of homes, mainly in Donegal and the northwest.
