Startup Ireland, a new programme intended to replace the NDRC, hopes to support 1,000 new start-ups over five years. A briefing document obtained by The Currency which was prepared by Enterprise Ireland quotes its chief executive Jenny Melia as predicting: “Over five years, Startup Ireland will support 10,000 entrepreneurs, create 1,000 start-ups and deliver a projected €15 return for every €1 invested.” The document states that Startup Ireland is in response to “shifting global dynamics,” which requires a “renewed focus” on domestic innovation.
