Chinese games company NetEase, which has developed games for Marvel and Pokémon, has been gradually cutting down its Dublin office, with the last remaining personnel informed of lay-offs. NetEase, led by billionaire Ding Lei, opened a Dublin base about two years ago. At its peak it had around 35 staff in fields like quality assurance and software engineering. A wave of lay-offs at the company as a whole in the last year saw the office hollowed out to three people by the end of 2025.
