Last year, the US HR giant Rippling came to the Irish High Court with allegations of espionage against its corporate rival Deel Inc. At the centre of the case was Keith O’Brien, a Balrothy, north Dublin man, who allegedly sought to jump ship from Rippling to Deel. Instead of a job, he was offered an arrangement whereby he would spy on Rippling for Deel in exchange for $6,000 a month, paid first via Revolut and then via cryptocurrency, according to earlier court submissions from Rippling and O’Brien.
