Before J&E Davy arrived on the scene, stockbroking in Ireland was dominated by a handful of Protestant firms: Wilkinson & Faulkner, Dudgeon & Sons, Bloxham, and Goodbody & Webb. It was a difficult industry for Catholics to break into.
