Once a small family enterprise, Kavanagh Meats in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford has grown into a substantial beef processor, slaughtering around 20,000 cattle a year for export to the UK and European Union. Its gross profit for 2018 was over €2 million and it has annual revenues of around €30 million. But success has come at a cost, according to the son of the founder, and current managing director, Garret Kavanagh, who has launched a legal action claiming he is being oppressed as a minority shareholder by investors who stepped in to salvage the business from insolvency in 2016.
