The Central Bank has just published its mortgage arrears statistics for the first three months of 2021. More than a decade on from the banking and property crashes of 2010, we still see 52,148 family home mortgages in arrears, with 24,499 of these in what is referred to as long-term mortgage arrears (“LTMA”) – in arrears for more than two years.
