The merger between Dole and Total Produce, which moved a step closer to completion last week, will create an industry-dominating business with more than twice the revenue of its nearest competitor. Last week, the new combined entity applied to float on a US stock market with the Securities and Exchange Commission as soon as its application was approved. The soon-to-be world’s biggest produce company will stay headquartered in Ireland, though it will change its name. The new company will be called Dole PLC.
