Before he had a life in Longford, John Connell had another life. He was an investigative journalist in Australia where he won the country’s equivalent of the Pulitzer, the Walkley, on two occasions. “It was my early 20s. I had a lot of success. I had a business. I won these Walkleys, which are like Pulitzer Prizes in Australia. The world was at my feet. But then, you know, mental health rose and wiped all that away,” he says.
