Thousands of business customers of AIB have faced difficulties using their business debit and credit cards due to bugs in the bank’s recently launched authenticator app. The bank told The Currency it has “paused” the use of its authenticator app for business bank card users, the roll-out of which has been described internally by AIB staff as a “disaster.” Business customers have been told in recent weeks to download AIB’s authenticator app in order to comply with strong customer authentication rules making online shopping more secure.
