Ten months ago, I reported how Airbnb had transferred intellectual property (IP) worth $7.3 billion to its Dublin office. The move was typical of US technology multinationals that previously used the double Irish scheme. In the case of Airbnb, IP was until the end of 2019 lodged in an Irish-registered company resident in Jersey, where it paid no corporation tax on royalties extracted from the business selling accommodation bookings around the world from the bank of Grand Canal Dock.
