In early 2019, Rearden’s Group, Cork’s biggest pub chain, went through a shareholder reshuffle. The buyout triggered an €8.4 million windfall for its two largest shareholders, Edmund Kenneally and Paul Montgomery. Ownership of the group moved to Margaret Montgomery, with Margaret Kenneally holding stock in a number of subsidiary companies. The group owned a number of prominent pubs and nightclubs, including Rearden’s on Washington Street, Chambers and the Oliver Plunkett. It also had significant property interests.
