Amnesty International is suing human rights activist and retired barrister Bill Shipsey to get him to change the name of the global artist engagement programme he founded for the cause, Art for Amnesty. In a statement issued to The Currency this afternoon an Amnesty spokesperson said: “It’s with a heavy heart that Amnesty has had to reluctantly take this action. As the founder of Art for Amnesty we greatly appreciate the creativity and commitment Bill Shipsey has shown over the years.
