Bord na Móna has written to Minister for Environment Eamon Ryan to express its “dissatisfaction” with the manner in which four worker directors were selected for its board. The four directors were selected by its trade unions rather than being put to a vote by all of its employees as had happened previously. Only 40 per cent of the 1,500 workers employed by Bord na Móna are trade union members, leading to complaints being made to the Department of the Environment by workers who feel they have been disenfranchised by the lack of an election this year.
