With Metrolink over a decade away, more car spaces is the only short-term option to tackle parking pressure at Dublin Airport. But recent decisions from local and national authorities are not helping matters.
The owner of the Holiday Inn Hotel was refused permission to continue using its car park for airport parking. It is now appealing the decision to An Bord Pleanála. Other hotels in the airport vicinity will be watching.
The developer Gerry Gannon agreed to sell a 41-acre site adjacent to Dublin Airport to the DAA last year. However, the deal has yet to close with the Competition and Consumer Commission escalating its investigations.
