X3T, which commercialises technology derived from Ireland's rural fibre roll-out, has announced its merger with a complementary British firm. The leadership teams of all entities overlap.
Asterion, the majority shareholder of National Broadband Ireland, has also become the largest investor in a separate company established to commercialise related technology.
The government has made its decision, appointing the company led by David McCourt to deliver high-speed connectivity to every home, farm and business in Ireland. The next challenge is to account for the €3 billion taxpayers will pour into the plan.
