Maxol, the 102-year-old family-owned fuel retailer, is positioning itself to outlast the internal combustion engine by investing heavily in its non-fuel offerings. Newly released figures for the company show a profit of €26.9 million for 2021, an increase of 57 per cent on 2020. The company, which is owned by the McMullan family, is putting this down to a “Covid bounce” of staycations and people continuing to work from home and using a hybrid working model.
