Former shareholders in a wind farm development business are suing energy multinational SSE Renewables for allegedly breaching the terms of a multimillion-euro takeover deal. In November 2019, SSE agreed to buy out Green Wind Energy (GWE) which had “shovel-ready” planning permission for a wind farm with 29 turbines at Rhode, Co Offaly. The development called Yellow River Wind Farm (YRWF) had survived a Supreme Court challenge. It was sold with a potential export capacity of 104.4MW, including the connection to an electricity transmission network at the Derryiron sub-station.
