The redevelopment of Páirc Uí Chaoimh was costly, controversial and blighted by budget overruns. When the project began in 2015, it was budgeted to cost €70 million. By 2018, Cork GAA had revised the figure to €86 million. However, GAA headquarters maintained that the real bill was much higher, with Peter McKenna, the stadium director for Croke Park and the GAA’s commercial director, publicly saying that it would reach €110 million.
