Ireland is one of the most open economies in the world. Pick any measure. We are open to workers from everywhere — especially the European Union — capital from everywhere, and of course, ideas from everywhere. As I wrote a few weeks ago, Ireland is in the midst of an intangible asset boom it doesn’t quite understand how to harness. This boom in intangibles comes from our openness. These are the positive aspects of the increased interconnection the world enjoys in 2020. If there is an upside risk to being open, we have been the beneficiaries of that risk taking.…
