The figures for the number of homes completed in 2022 were published last week and surprised to the upside. Almost 9,150 homes were completed in the last three months of the year, by far the largest number of completions in a three-month period since the end of the Celtic Tiger: until this year, the biggest three-month total since the start of the crash was just over 7,300 in late 2020, as the sector rushed to complete as many homes as possible after lockdowns eased.
