The University of Limerick has found itself on the sharp end of a patent battle over cutting-edge AI recycling equipment. Or perhaps stuck in the middle. The college is being sued in the Commercial Court by Peregrine Technologies, a Co Limerick cleantech firm that develops advanced solutions for recycling old electronics. Specifically Peregrine has designed a fully-automated, high-throughput, robotic recycling system that can safely deal with end-of-life flat screens and laptops that contain mercury and other hazardous material.
