Kerry builder Eddie McGillycuddy’s UK-based business Glencar Construction has started work on a second vaccine factory on the outskirts of Oxford. The £150 million project, for US vaccine maker Moderna, comes after the completion last year of a £200 million vaccine factory, the Vaccine Manufacturing and Innovation Centre (VMIC) in the same 710-acre science park, Harwell. The new Moderna facility, which is expected to begin operating in 2025, will span 145,000 sq.ft – about the same as two professional football pitches – similar to the footprint of the first such factory built by Glencar.
