While US President Joe Biden’s visit to Ireland this week is all about the Good Friday Agreement, it is ironic that the success of his presidency back home is dependent on the IRA. No, not that one – the Inflation Reduction Act, a catch-all economic package adopted last year after endless negotiations in Washington (mostly within Biden’s Democratic Party) to deliver anything from the transition to a green economy to a floor on the tax effectively paid by multinationals.
