The surprising thing about the UK-based infrastructure fund John Laing’s purchase of Irish assets is the size of the deal.  John Laing used to be listed on the UK stock market. It was taken private by the private equity giant KKR in 2020, for a price of £2 billion (€2.26 billion).  The portfolio of Irish assets purchased by John Laing in December, meanwhile, reportedly cost €1 billion.
