Sean FitzPatrick, the former chairman of Anglo Irish bank, has received a low five-figure payment from Matheson, the blue chip law firm that advised on the controversial Maple 10 transaction. The law firm admitted no liability when settling the action. Ending the legal action was a pragmatic decision by the law firm, which was able to handle the payment itself, rather than claim against its insurance.
