Many powerful countries look at Ireland and conclude we use ‘soft power’ well. In relative terms, Ireland really is small. Our size makes us natural networkers. During the first minutes of conversation the instinct is to connect with someone, to find a common friend or thread. When we travel, we bring that trait with us.
