It was a brief enough statement but it represented, at last, a critical question answered. The interim Grant Thornton report that covered payments over a ten-year period (2010-2020) to the highest-paid presenters in RTÉ, established that there were no other contractual arrangements that were either inappropriate or not accurately reported. The chair of its board, Siún Ní Raghallaigh, opened her remarks to the Public Accounts Committee last week by saying: “Grant Thornton’s review confirms that RTÉ had correctly stated and properly accounted for these figures for the period 2010 to 2022, with the obvious exception of what we already restated.”…
