What have we learned from Budget 2024? Tuesday contained very little news, and that is a good thing. Making budget days boring should be a government slogan. Process over pantomime every day, at least for me. First, the main decisions around taxation and spending had been well-flagged. Second, the government has mixed the stand-still spending it needed to cope with our ageing society with one-off measures to produce a highly progressive budget.
