According to a recent Commission on Taxation report on share-based pay, some 77,829 staff were rewarded for their efforts through share incentive schemes in 2019. As set out in the report, 700 companies operate share schemes through the payroll system. Some employers award free or discounted shares or grant their staff rights to receive shares in the future.
