Four local authorities have claimed more than €1.1 million in administrative fees over the past eight months for costs under the State’s new mica redress scheme as the scale of work to tackle the national crisis ramps up. The Enhanced Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme was launched last July to help affected homeowners cover costs to demolish and rebuild houses damaged by defective concrete blocks with excessive amounts of mica or pyrite.
