If Simon Harris was dreaming of becoming Taoiseach from national school days, Gavin Robinson is the opposite. In January 2023 he was reluctant to contest (and win) the DUP deputy leadership. Earlier this afternoon party officers unanimously supported his promotion to the role of interim DUP deputy leader, after Sir Jeffrey Donaldson tendered his resignation with immediate effect.
