The McDonagh brothers, Brian, Kenneth and Maurice, have spent ten years in a “vendetta” against Ulster Bank. Judges in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court have spent months over these cases as unsuccessful appeal followed unsuccessful appeal. Although they have lost at every juncture, the brothers have successfully cost the bank time and also money that it is unlikely ever to recover. “The extent of the mockery which the McDonaghs are making of the court system is vividly illustrated by the facts of this case,” wrote Justice Michael Twomey in an excoriating judgment against the brothers…
