Two Irish brothers have been sentenced to 18 months in prison in the US for running a construction scam that targeted the elderly to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The multi-state fraud saw Patrick McDonagh (35) and Matthew McDonagh (34), from Fermanagh, travel around the states of Illinois, Oregon and Washington posing as repairmen, offering bogus services to elderly homeowners, often charging tens of thousands of dollars per job.
