For nearly two years, Paschal Taggart has been championing a simple idea. Taggart, a successful businessman, believes that key workers, particularly teachers, gardaí, and nurses, are disproportionately impacted by the lack of affordable housing. He has written discussion papers and letters on the topic and explained in interviews how the “backbone of our society”, many of whom cannot work remotely, are being driven out of Dublin. “Dublin risks becoming a city that can no longer function properly,” he believes.
