As of mid-2025, it is clear that construction activity has stalled somewhat. One-off housing is something of a law unto itself, with almost as many one-offs built in 2011 as in 2024. But in the professional development sector – which builds estate houses and apartments – the last decade has been one of very strong growth. In 2013, just 1,600 homes were built (excluding one-offs). In 2023, over 27,000 homes were built – a sixteen-fold increase.
