Ireland’s leftward drift, discussed here recently, is expected to be confirmed in today’s presidential election. As a centrist who believes in both the positive role of the State, including in redistributing wealth, and the wealth-creating power of business and free markets, the election of a far-leftist to the role of president would bode ill.
