The governing coalition’s competence and capacity to get things done are coming under ever greater scrutiny. The presidential election was botched by both coalition partners. Fianna Fáil botched the campaign with scarcely believable ineptitude. Fine Gael merely botched it. Much more seriously, policy implementation is generally poor, even when it comes to priority issues, such as housing and infrastructure.
