In September, Cistercian College – the day and boarding school for boys in Roscrea, founded in 1905 –admitted female students for the very first time.  “It’s the right move for the college, on every front,” college president Colm Maloney, who led the co-ed proposal, insisted.  It’s undeniably a good move for the college bursary, considering that just nine years ago, the school announced its closure due to a 45 per cent drop in enrolment.
