As I write this, people throughout America are talking about a “weekend settlement”.  President Trump has been talking a lot about the end of the war in the Middle East. Unfortunately for the president, it isn’t the type of thing that gets spoken into ending. The announcement of a ceasefire, we’re learning and relearning, is not a ceasefire. Trump, concerningly, is getting more freewheeling at the very time that most reasonable observers would recommend pumping the brakes.
