When you’re running a restaurant, the worst things for your business are no-shows and same-day cancellations. On Thursday, I heard from a group of a dozen people who had booked a dinner-and-theatre outing in Dublin’s O’Connell Street area. The fuel protest blocking access to this part of the capital forced them to reschedule at the last minute. The restaurant and theatre admirably agreed to move their bookings later this month. In the meantime, those seats were empty last night, with no revenue for either. Multiply this by the number of similar situations replicated around the country as the protests escalated…
