“The last time I enjoyed playing hurling was when I was 14,” says Tony Griffin. Griffin remembers when the games he loved became more than games. Griffin is one of those figures that certain sports seem to produce more than others. Hurling and cricket are two games where free thinkers seem to thrive. Growing up in Ballyea in Clare, hurling was an intrinsic part of Griffin’s life. He was an All-Star in 2006, by which time he was studying in Canada and commuting back for matches before a restlessness took him away. He has made a name for himself again…
