The EU has reprimanded Ireland for failing to comply with rules for the European Anti-Fraud Office. The European Anti-Fraud Office, better known as OLAF from its French name, investigates fraud and corruption in EU institutions and abuses of the EU budget. Last week the European Commission sent a formal letter of notice to the Irish Government calling on it to align national legislation with the OLAF Regulation, the framework that OLAF operates in, and criticised the Government’s failure to comply with its obligations.
