There’s a disruptor spirit in Alex Chernenko that has served him well. Two years ago the Ukrainian-born, Limerick-based entrepreneur had a seven-figure exit from Translit, a translation company he founded when a previous employer decided he was too innovative for their liking. Now he’s looking to shake up another niche sector – business information. Chernenko is targeting the incumbents – in particular SoloCheck, Vision-Net, Creditsafe and Search4less – with an AI-powered competitor he’s calling Vedi. “It comes from Sanskrit,” he says. “It means truth and wisdom.” The 42-year-old expects to launch Vedi within two months.
