Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund is taking a major stake in the Greenlink interconnector between Ireland and the UK after receiving approval from European authorities. Mubadala, the investment group controlled by the Abu Dhabi government, will invest around $200 million in the 504 MW subsea electricity interconnector linking Ireland to the UK across the Irish Sea. Pre-existing investors Equitix from the UK and Baltic Cable from Sweden will make up the rest of the joint venture.
