McDaid’s Pub, one of Dublin’s most famous literary pubs, is close to being sold. The pub, which is just off Grafton Street, was frequented by Brendan Behan, the playwright and raconteur, and Patrick Kavanagh, the poet and novelist who wrote On Raglan Road and Tarry Flynn among many other works. The buyer is the Mangan family who own another of the capital’s best pubs, Doheny & Nesbitt’s. The price being paid is not known, and the sale may include a second pub as part of the transaction.
