Roscommon County Council has escalated its enforcement action against Harte Peat, formally ordering the company to immediately cease all “unauthorised” peat extraction at a bog in Cornaveagh. The company is a leader in the production of peat for the mushroom industry. It primarily uses wet peat for processing at its facility where it makes casing, a nutrient rich substrate.
