As airlines and aircraft lessors continue to navigate supply shortages of new aircraft from the major manufacturers, one of Ireland’s leasing mainstays is making a bet on spare parts. A multi-hundred-million-euro deal by Orix’s Irish-headquartered aviation business to buy Welsh firm AerFin will expand its leasing business into the whole area of engines, parts and end-of-life aircraft services. Announced on Monday, Japanese financial services giant Orix, which has based its aviation business out of Ireland for 35 years, said it was buying AerFin, a Welsh aviation aftermarket specialist which also has an Irish presence – all subject to regulatory approval.…
